OBTT workshops are designed to help veterans, veterans in the Guard & Reserve, & their spouses get that first civilian career
Q. Why should I attend a Department of Labor VETS OBTT and TEAMS workshop?
A. Whether you are feeling stuck in a job you dislike, currently unemployed or under-employed,
or you desire to explore new opportunities – OBTT is designed for you. If you’re looking for
inspiration and assistance to guide you in your employment search, OBTT workshops are the
perfect place to start. With a community of your veteran and spouse peers, OBTT workshops will
provide the information you need to make informed decisions and plan for your career goals.
Q. Why is the Department of Labor offering these workshops?
A. At DOL VETS, our mission is to enable all veterans, transitioning service members, and military
spouses to reach their full potential in the workplace. It’s important to us that we provide them
with employment resources and expertise, protect their employment rights, and promote their
employment opportunities.
Q. Will OBTT help me get a job?
A. We hope so! OBTT workshops are designed to give you the fundamental knowledge needed
to increase your competitiveness in the job search market. Should you need or desire follow on
help, OBTT Employment Resource Coordinators (ERC) are available to assist and connect you to
your local American Job Center (AJC).
Q. Where are OBTT workshops located?
A. OBTT pilots are running in Los Angeles and San Diego, California; Boston, Massachusetts;
Fayetteville and Raleigh, North Carolina; Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Dallas,
Houston, and San Antonio, Texas and will expand to at least 20 states and 50 locations
nationwide over the five-year pilot. You do not need to be a resident of the pilot state/s to take
part in an OBTT workshop. Additionally, OBTT workshops are also offered virtually.

A. Your Next Move, Marketing Yourself, Understanding Resume Essentials, and Creating Your
Resume workshops are currently offered in-person in the five pilot states.

A. Interview Skills, Federal Hiring, LinkedIn Profiles, LinkedIn Job Search, Salary Negotiations,
Employment Rights workshops, Your Next Move, Marketing Yourself, Understanding Resume
Essentials, and Creating Your Resume workshops are currently offered virtually.
